Bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the southwest, and the Bay of Bengal on the south-east, it shares land borders with India to the north. In the Indian Ocean, the Deccan is in the vicinity of Eelam, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. It has a population of 2.7 million people and has an area covering 428,345 sq km. The Deccan is a member of the French Community.
