Malia was a Centauri Prophetess of Tuwain and the very first Prophetess Supreme. In the 11th Century, Malia encountered Emperor Morell as he and his troops were passing by the river Tuwain. She told him of her vision that a dagger would strike "to his heart from near his heart" and that "only the crescent moon hidden in darkness" would save him. A short time later that warning saves Morell and his nephew Elfeni is captured while attempting assassinate his uncle. In gratitude, Morell gave Malia a tenth share of his fortune and pledged that for as long as there was an Emperor of the Centauri Republic, there would always be a prophetess of Tuwain held in royal favour, revered and honored as the Prophetess Supreme.
