William Rushton Black was a coachbuilder born in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria in 1893. He became Managing Director of Park Royal Vehicles in 1949, of Associated Commercial Vehicles in 1958 and Chairman of Leyland Motor Corporation in 1963. He died in 1984.
