Emma Plaskett is the murder victim in Red John's Footsteps and a victim of Red John. She's kidnapped, in San Angelo, with her twin sister, Maya, with the help of Sheriff Hardy, his accomplice. Maya is rescued, but Emma is previously killed. Her toenails are painted red with her own blood, similar to Jane's wife, to challenge and mock Jane. Red John, after Maya's murder, painted his "smile" using a plane's skywriter, paying through one of his false companies, RJ Solutions, Inc.
