Little Friend from Front Street was a musical play (copyrighted 1972[1]) with book & lyrics by Esther Budgar and music by Jim Steinman. It was directed by Pat Keating, mother of frequent Steinman collaborator Barry Keating. The production was at Northampton High School in Massachusetts where Pat and Esther were teachers. The play detailed the considerable financing of the American Revolutionary War by a Polish born Jewish immigrant to America named Haym Solomon[2]. The show featured the first use of the melody which would later become the song "Braver Than We Are."
