The Takara Morlatta, also known as the Comet of Destruction, was the name of a comet that was known to the Romulan race. This astronomical phenomena formerly travelled through the Romulan Star Empire Home system in a 40 year cycle. According to the Eridam Papers, it was seen to the early Romulans as a bearer of death and destruction. It was later destroyed by the Romulan Star Navy shortly after inter-planetary travel was established. It served as the basis for a starship class called the Takara Morlatta class vessels.
