The Keurensbira rail disaster was a high speed rail crash that occured on the morning of 27 May 2009 on the outskirts of the village of Keurensbira, Leubantia. It happened when an LSR 460 high-speed train (460567) collided with a DB Schenker Class 66 locomotive pulling a train of ballast. The Class 460 and the DB Schenker locomotive were travelling at 180 mph and 85 mph, respectively. 56 people died and 120 were injured in the crash. Both the Class 460 power cars and Coaches A, B, and part of J were scattered across the line, while the the rest of J, and all of coaches C, D, E, F, G, H, and I were in a field.
