Bleeding heart tetras are a small species of fish that are most notable because of the red spot where their heart is, which is also how they get their name. These fish only live for about five years and prefer to live in warm water and lightly acidic water. They are very sensitive to the water conditions that it lives in. Male bleeding heart tetras have larger dorsal fins while the females have fuller bodies.
