Karen has been chief of the DPD for some time while also having a friendship with Detective Alex Murphy and Sergeant Jack Lewis. At some point before the events of the film, Karen became corrupt when she started working with crime boss Antoine Vallon by preventing any investigations and getting rid of any evidence connected to Vallon. After being confronted by Alex with the evidence against her she is removed from her position and arrested.
