Lyris was a Taresian, one of the leaders of the nearly all-female planet Taresia. She persuaded Harry Kim that he was a long lost Taresian, when in reality he had been infected with Taresian DNA to make it appear that he was becoming a Taresian. This was the way Taresian woman propagated their species. They would extract DNA from their male victims, killing them in the process. (VOY: "Favorite Son") Lyris was played by actress Deborah May. Her name comes from the script. She was described as a government official by the Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 1, p. 492) .
