The 1977 Richmond 400 was a Winston Cup Series (now Nextel Cup) event held at Richmond International Raceway on February 27, 1977. Cale Yarborough had already proved he had the best car, leading 161 of the 245 laps before rain clinched the victory for Cale. It was his second straight victory. Yarborough also controlled an early-season points lead, working with a 91-point advantage on Darrell Waltrip (2nd).
