Frustrated with having his life's work dismissed as impractical, Bacon found another way to power the device. He attempted to avenge himself on Oscar by putting the device in a truck, driving to a remote electrical junction, and tapping directly into a main civilian power grid. While this demonstrated the weapon's practical success, it also put the lives of an entire town in jeopardy (Population Zero).
