Andrew was an employee of a youth center in Los Angeles. He was a friend of Dylan McKay who happened to be gay. However, he didn't want his employer to know about his sexual orientation, instead focusing on helping the kids. However, when his boss, Patsy Regan, found out he was gay, she wanted to get rid of him. Dylan, however, threatened to cut off her funding, but she called his bluff. Later, rather than have the kids suffer because of him, Andrew would quit the center.
