Before Hige ever met Kiba, he was brainwashed into being Lady Jaguara's lapdog by hunting and leading troops to find wolves. The collar that he wore was actually a tag/transmitter that allowed him to wander through Jaguara's city and was always under surveillance. It also controlled him, and reprogrammed his memories, as he was trapped in an endless migraine before it was shot off by a soldier. At least 22 other wolves were collared in this way. They are believed to be part of his original pack, and have all presumably since been killed. Hige was number 23 out of an unknown amount.
