Springfield is referenced in the stage play A Mad World, My Masters (1977) by British writer Barrie Keeffe and in the novels Stripping Penguins Bare (1991) and The Wimbledon Poisoner (1990) by respective British writers Michael Carson and Nigel Williams. Two Dusty Springfield's songs appeared on an episode of the US television series Ally McBeal. The show's character Georgia Thomas has referred to two Dusty's songs. Currently, there are movie projects in the works based on Springfield's biographies. One of them is slated to have Broadway actress Kristin Chenoweth portraying Springfield.
