The Forensic Flashlight is a light source debuting in Silent Hill: Downpour. It is one of the three ways Murphy Pendleton can illuminate the environments around him. It can light things normally, but it can also be used to see hidden messages on walls or different places. Murphy can use the light in the Centennial Building to find and follow footsteps which lead him to a vault. Later on, Murphy uses the light to follow footsteps in the Overlook Penitentiary to find a code inside a license plate workshop. It is also required to perform the "Shadow Play" sidequest.
