The 1971 Deleware 500 was a Winston Cup (now Nextel Cup) event that occured at Dover on October 17, 1971. Richard Petty led just 101 of the 500 laps, but won the event by one lap over Charlie Glotzbach and built his point lead with just a few races left in the season.
