In 1983, Brenner appeared with Fozzie Bear in Muppet Magazine issue 1 in the article, "Fozzie's Night Out". The two, along with other celebrities, were invited to the filming of HBO's 10th Anniversary celebration of New York City's Catch a Rising Star comedy club. Brenner was a frequent guest on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, along with appearances on The Merv Griffin Show, The Ed Sullivan Show, Hollywood Squares, and Late Show with David Letterman. In 2005, he was one of several comedians enlisted for the film The Aristocrats.
