The participants were: * Boston College * Michigan Technological University * St. Lawrence University * University of Michigan Michigan, playing its ninth Frozen Four in as many opportunities, defeated Michigan Tech 7-5 in the first national championship game to be played between schools from the same state, winning its second straight national championship, its fifth in six years, and its sixth overall.
