The KD-3 Petrel Tanker is a heavy dropship used for mid-air and spaceborne refuelling operations, usually within friendly territory. The KD-3 has expanded fuel tanks and four refuelling nozzles, allowing it to refuel any UNSC aircraft in mid air, even when hovering. The KD-3 as a heavily expanded range and is often used in support of air forces to expand their strike range for larger combat radii. It can preform long range missions, though lack of a slipspace capacitor relegates it to preforming carrier based or air-field based missions within a system. It can carry the same payload as regular Petrel and act as a tactical or strategic air lifter.
