In the late 2260s, the Trexelprise was launched by Starfleet to explore the Trexelian Expanse after the USS Valiant had been lost. There, it encountered a number of quantum fluctuations which brought individuals from various locations and time periods into the expanse. Some of these were Starfleet officers who assisted the Trexelprise in its explorations of the expanse. In the expanse, the Trexelprise collected resources from asteroids and debris in space. Traversing the expanse also led to encounters with Orion scout ships.
