The attempt ultimately failed thanks to Timothy McGee, an NCIS Special Agent and Abby's former boyfriend who managed to get himself and Abby out of the lab before Abby had the room sealed off, prompting the building to be shut off for a time while an ERT team worked to determine the cause.
