Ujina Tsuda was a bushi of the Hare Clan who impersonated a ronin known as Tsuda to infiltrate in the bandit gang led by Tsubaki, becoming his second lieutenant. The bandits attacked a caravan and stole several lacquered boxes which contained priceless original work of long-dead artisans, but during the assault they found themselves ambushed by superior forces of Seppun Magistrates. Tsuda had devised the ambush and all the gang was captured or killed.
