Micro-motivators were small mechanisms that emitted a stimulating burst of energy. Most often, these devices were inserted into racing animals—to artificially boost the animals' drive to continue—by criminals who wished to rig a race. The micro-motivators could be demolished inside the animal without causing any harm, thereby eliminating evidence of the criminal's dishonesty.
