The mission of the Armed Forces Health Surveillance Center is to analyze, interpret, and disseminate information related to the status, trends, and determinants of the health of the U.S. military service members and military-associated populations. The Center identifies obstacles to medical readiness by linking various databases that communicate information relevant to service member health and fitness. The Center maintains the Defense Medical Surveillance System as well as the Global Emerging Infectious Surveillance and Response System.
