Moonlight was walking out of ShadowClan territory. He had just been banished by his clan leader, Graystar. The former deputy of ShadowClan, Nightfur, was murdered by someone. Moonlight was blamed because he was the one who found Nightfur's dead body. Then, he came to thunderpath. He wondered where he should go. All clans would eventually find and kill him in their territories, so he thought that it didn't matter where he went. He decided to go into ThunderClan territory. All of a sudden, a patrol came up. Petalfoot, Moonclaw, and Pinepaw were in it. "What are you doing here?" Moonclaw snarled.
