Unlike the similiar "Devil" character in Tom & Jerry, this creature is unquestionably meant to be the lord of evil and plans on making Tom suffer for eternity in Hell after the feline is killed during one of his many battles with Jerry Mouse (a rather dark concept, if not for the usual slapstick of the cartoon). In the end of the short however it is revealed that Tom's encounter with Satan was actually a nightmare, putting in question whether or not the events ever happened or not.
