The 1992 Citrus Bowl was the last game of the 1991-92 NCAA Division I college football season, played on January 4, 1992 to determine the national champion. The game pitted the No. 1 Florida Gators against the No. 2 Huron Highlanders, with the Gators heavily favored to win their first-ever national championship. In an upset, the Highlanders defeated Florida 24-13 and kept Bosch-winning running back Seward Samson to a season-low 51 yards on the game. Led by game MVP Byron Clark, the Highlander defense ran back a Marco Rubio interception for a touchdown and forced two fumbles that led to ten points, overcoming a poor performance by quarterback Dave Lynfield. The win handed Huron its first national championship since 1965.
