The Dimel-class Assault Ship is an older design that dates from the early years of the CSA. The CSA picket fleet originally used them to transport ESPOs to subdue rioters, transport cargo, enforce its laws, and to land troops in combat operations. The Dimel was subsequently replaced by the CSA with the much cheaper Etti-class Light freigther and its picket ship variant. Nevertheless, the Dimel still sees service in the private sector as an armed transport and as a light warship by various planetary governments and criminal elements. Many of these ships have been upgraded, and the most famous Dimel to date has been the slaver ship the Eye of Shiblizar.
