Artie Cross (born 1949) is a counterfeiter, with an operation inside an abandoned nightclub. James "Sonny" Crockett and Ricardo "Rico" Tubbs were working undercover to bring Cross down, Crockett was really examining his handywork with fake money, but when the police arrive Cross activates the sprinklers, loaded with gasoline, and threw a match, setting the nightclub (and the evidence) ablaze. Crockett, Tubbs and Cross get out, but Larry Zito charges into the club to get some of the evidence before it burned up, injuring his fingers.
