The Mortani Gypsies are the native inhabitants of Lupravia in Mauristatia, and are the descendants of the nomadic tribesmen who first settled that mountainous land. Their attitude to outsiders is somewhat ambivalent – at times they are welcoming and generous, but they are just as likely to take advantage of the unwary, relieving them of their wealth.
