George Starkins Wallis (10 January 1788 - 10 October 1864) was a businessman and local politician in the Whitechapel area. Born in Shoreditch, by 1826 he was the proprietor of a livery stable in the Whitechapel Road. He subsequently moved to Mansell Street, Goodmans Fields and was Master of the Worshipful Company of Upholders in 1848-49 When the Metropolitan Board of Works was created in 1855, Wallis was nominated by the Whitechapel District Board of Works as their representative. In 1861 he was appointed a justice of the peace for the Liberties of the Tower.
