Daidoji Banjin was the local magistrate of Kosaten Shiro, under the command of governor Daidoji Sokazaka. He was a strict samurai, always perfectly dressed and precisely controlled. Tensions had raised with their neighbours, the Lion Clan, and sudden high taxes to support a military effort had created a conflict with the peasantry.
