First developed by the Terran Federation during the Theban War, the Heterodyne Laser or "Hetlaser" uses a pair of laser weapons in perfect wavelength desynchronization. The result is a weapons mount 50% larger than a Force Beam mount but with more range, higher damage output, and the ability to pass through shields. Like most beam weapons, hetlasers cannot penetrate the atmosphere of a planet.
