Tomy Company LTD. (株式会社タカラトミー Kabushiki-gaisha Takara Tomī, Takara Tomy), is a Japanese toy company and the distributor and manufacturer of Beyblades in Japan. Whereas, Hasbro licenses them for distribution and manufacturing in the United States and Canada. They currently host Japan-only, WBBA Beyblade tournaments. They also make other toys such as the Transformers toyline. Tomy (founded in 1924 as Tomiyama, changing the name to Tomy in 1963) and long-time rival, Takara (founded in 1955), merged on March 1, 2006. The company's headquarters is in Katsushika, Tokyo.
