The story is told from the perspective of Leland Loomis, after meeting Jonathan Archer and T'Pol (ENT: "Carpenter Street"). In 2005, Loomis, a patient at a psychiatric facility, is under the care of a Doctor Cyril Morgan. While waiting in the medication line, Loomis protests his innocence and insists that he is sane. The doctor reminds him that sanity would mean that he would go on trial, and would likely lose his case, and be incarcerated for battery at the very least. Loomis quietly takes his medication and stops protesting.
