The Karazar system was a star system located inside the Tabula Rasa spatial anomaly. It contained at least one planet, the icy world of Karazin, which was inhabited by the Taubat. In 2292, soon after the Karazar system emerged from the Tabula Rasa spatial anomaly, a plague broke out on Karazin. The Taubat government, unable to resolve the situation on its own, sent out a distress call, begging for outside assistance, which was answered by Starfleet on stardate 8978.8.
