Beginning his acting career under the stage name of Jamie Jamison, Newlander appeared in many stage productions around Los Angeles. From 1988 to 1992 he attended New York University Tisch School of the Arts, prior to that he'd attended Beverly Hills High. Jamison majored in Drama and was in the Circle in the Square studio for two years and the Practical Aesthetics Workshop studio for two years. He graduated with the degree Bachelor of Fine Arts, Drama, in June 1992. Jamison has also attended and studied in numerous other acting and stage classes over the years. Currently, Jamison lives in Los Angeles with his wife, actress Hanny Landau, whom he married in 2002.
