The Staff of Gandalf the White is an unfinished, large, ranged weapon that cannot be obtained via survival. It will probably be obtainable through questing, once that's added, at which point the functionality of the staff will be expanded. For now, it is only available through the creative mode menu. The melee attack does +8 attack damage, which is stronger than a diamond sword and the equivalent strength of a mithril spear.
