Na'Laq was the brood mother of G'Kar and lived as a slave with her mate, G'Qarn , and son in the household of a wealthy Centauri aristocrat and Spoo ranch owner in G'Kamazad. While working on the ranch Na'Laq's job was to twice daily turn over each spoo to assure a consistent colouring. Despite the labour and the typical depression caused by the constant exposure to the spoo, she would often manage to smuggle home some spoo for her family to supplement the meagre rations the Centauri allowed them. Her usual recipe was to serve the fresh spoo fried in tawloo fat and stuffed in roasted gollif bowls. For the rest of his life, her son would retain a taste for fresh spoo, as it reminded him of his childhood and his mother's perseverance.
