The Pittsburgh Colts are the oldest minor-league professional football team in Pittsburgh, that is still in existence. The team was founded in 1979 by head coach, Edward G. Brosky, a member of the Pitt Panthers 1976 national championship team and moonlighted as a semi-pro football player until Pitt coach Johnny Majors found out. When he left Pitt, he continued to play for semi-pro teams in the area. He started the Colts when the other teams folded. The Colts are part of the Grassroots Football League, Pennsylvania Division.
