Series 5 of The Dumping Ground, like the two seasons before it, was split into two halves, but this time of 12 episodes each. The first half commenced airing on 20 January 2017 and finished airing on 31 March 2017. The second half will air later in the year. Production began on 21 March 2016 and was completed on 9 September 2016.
