Born in Hawaii, Asato began sumo wrestling in his teens. Film and TV credits, often as sumo wrestlers or similarly imposing henchmen, include Night Court, New York Undercover, and the movies Showdown in Little Tokyo, On Deadly Ground (with Michael Caine), and 2001: A Space Travesty (with Leslie Nielsen).
