Ranks_(Earth) Ranks are are graded titles used by military organizations to establish a heirarchy of command and responsibility. Something like "Military ranks are designations denoting military members' superiority or inferiority (such as in terms of status, authority and privilege) in relation to other members" would be an improvement. The Earth forces use a unique set of ranks drawn from the traditions of the several nations that now constitute the United Earth Government.
