Utnapishtim is a hero from the Epic of Gilgamesh who was granted immortality by the gods after he and his wife survived the great flood. Gilgamesh seeks Utnapishtim after Gilgamesh's friend Enkidu died, in order to find a way to become immortal. Utnapishtim tells Gilgamesh if he can stay awake for six days and seven nights, he would grant him immortality. Utnapishtim then told his wife to bake a loaf of bread for everyday Gilgamesh is asleep so that Gilgamesh can not deny his failure. After failing the task Utnapishtim tells Gilgamesh about a plant that grows on the bottom of the sea that will make anyone young again after eating it.
