Robert Taft, rather than endorse a favorite son from his home state of Ohio, decides to support fellow conservative and war hero Douglas MacArthur, who is currently commanding allied forces in the Pacific. Forced to campaign for the nomination through film and interviews, he still scores many victories during the few primaries that are held, with the moderate vote having been divided by Harold Stassen and Thomas Dewey. Narrowly winning the Republican nomination because of this split, MacArthur, despite many difficulties during the campaign, is able to by a equally narrow margin take the Presidency away from Franklin Delano Roosevelt. How will history move forward with the Big Chief in the White House?
