Mrs Allen was based at Weatherfield General and was Vera Duckworth's renal consultant during the transplant storyline in December 2000 which involved Vera's grandson, Paul Clayton. Mrs Allen was able to reassure Jack, who had fears over Vera's suitability as a donor, due to her age and general health. The final operation was a success for Paul, although Vera did suffer initial complications causing concern to all involved. The storyline also featured the return of Paul's parents, Terry Duckworth and Andrea Clayton.
