Since 1994 the European Commission on Preservation and Access (ECPA) "acts as a European platform for discussion and cooperation of heritage organisations in areas of preservation and access." It promotes activities aimed at keeping collections in European archives and libraries accessible over time. The ECPA website provides online information on the preservation of photographs, films, tapes, disks, books and documents and offers an overview of European preservation projects.
