Whispering Hounds are a species of animals closely associated with the also telepathic Nibi. They share a common evolutionary ancestor who had telepathic abilities itself, if this ancestor did ever split off into mermans or goes back even more to connect to the den den mushis is wholly unsure but a scientific possibility.
