Dreann Excenil was a member of the Excenil family and the mother of Emperor Palpatine. She and her husband Hos Costil were killed in 32 BBY, after the Trade Federation invasion, probably by their son or by one of his minions. Throughout his life, Palpatine favored her family over the Costils, and he hinted that he believed that the Costils had been responsible for her and Hos Costil's deaths, though the investigation turned up no evidence against anyone.
